Онлайн-встречи проходят в ZOOM.

Английский разговорный клуб вокруг актуальных тем с наших кухонь с писателем и путешественником, медиатором, преподавателем, носителем языка и нашим другом Джошем Надьё.

Приглашаем всех, кто хочет разобраться, обсудить и увидеть разные взгляды на социальные и культурные темы: политика, искусство, конфликт, гендер, иммиграция, меньшинства, привилегии и национализм — в целом и в нюансах.
Учиться и улучшать навыки ведения конструктивного диалога на непростые темы, высказывать своё мнение, слушать и слышать мнения других.
А ещё читать современную международную прессу и политическую литературу, смотреть видео в оригинале, обмениваться идеями с международным сообществом и примкнуть к глобальному активистскому движению.

Перед встречей даём материалы, с обсуждения которых начнётся дискуссия, и будет открытый формат, когда участни_цы в начале встречи будут договариваться и выбирать тему сами.

Ваш уровень: английский не ниже intermediate и любое — даже нулевое — владение темой. 

Мы предлагаем темы, которые кажутся нам важными и ощущаются в воздухе города, и подготовили расписание и регистрацию.

Встречи начинаются в 19:30 (время Московское).

Online meetings take place on ZOOM.

Kitchen Talks is an English-language discussion and dialogue group that meets every week to learn how to talk about controversial, polarizing topics. It’s hosted by Josh Nadeau, a dialogue facilitator, writer, educator and occasional hitchhiker.

We invite anyone who wants to learn about, engage with and discuss different perspectives on social and cultural themes: politics, art, conflict, gender, religion, health, immigration, minorities, privilege, elitism, power and more. At Kitchen Talks we practice and improve our ability to dialogue on complicated topics as well as to both express and listen to various opinions.

Before each meeting, participants are given articles to read or videos to watch, giving the opportunity to gain familiarity with the broader, global conversation on the topic. Once a month we hold open topic nights where participants propose and vote on a theme that matters to them.

Recommended level of English: intermediate and higher. Level of familiarity with the topic: none required.

Meetings start at 19:30 Moscow time (+3 GMT)

Kitchen Talks runs entirely on donations, which can be made below before the meeting or during the event itself — for our organizers, this is part of our livelihood. We normally host a number of events in-person, and our working rhythms have been disrupted by the virus. We’re excited to be expanding our programming online, and are grateful for your support during this unpredictable period. Donations can be made after the meeting as a card or Paypal transfer, or as a payment during registration below.
 

Instructions for registering

This website is Russian, which may prove difficult for non-Russian speakers. In order to register, please follow the instructions below:

1. Select the number of tickets you want for the dates you plan on attending. Each date has two options: registering with or without paying ahead of time. If you choose to pay during/after the meeting, please choose the free registration. If you don’t have a Russian account or Paypal, you will find it easier to pay during the registration. The prepaid donation is 350 RUB. 

2. You will be asked to input your information below. The four text boxes are, in order, your email address, last name, first name and phone number (optional). Do not enter your phone number if you do not have a Russian number. 

3. The three checkboxes underneath are: a) you want to receive a newsletter of different events we organize, b) you want to receive a newsletter of different events happening in St. Petersburg on this platform, and c) you agree to processing data according to the privacy policy and other policies. The last checkbox is obligatory.

4. Click the box "Зарегистрироваться" to finish. 

5. Install ZOOM and check your sound.
